This workshop will be held in-person at The Watershed Institute, 31 Titus Mill Road, Pennington, NJ 08534
Workshop Description
Solargraphy is an alternative way to create a pinhole photograph that allows you to capture the movement of the sun in the sky. It's one of the most magical and fun photography experiences you can have! This two-part workshop will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating your own.
Part 1: Learn about the process, make a pinhole camera, and discuss techniques for creating your solargraph. You’ll then go home and install your camera.
Part 2: Join back together and learn how to process your exposed solargraphs through scanning.
No experience necessary. All materials provided.
About the Instructor
Heather Palecek is an analogue photographer working in the mediums of pinhole photography, lumen printing, cyanotype, and mixed media camera-less photography. She uses these historical photography processes in experimental ways to collaborate with mother nature in her work. She has been working around the theme of relationships and connection for much of her artistic career. Many of her artistic pursuits explore the relationships humans have to mother nature and their impact on the environment. It is her goal as an artist to create artwork that makes people think about their own relationship with mother nature and inspire them to be more mindful.
Heather has a degree in fine art education and photography from Montclair State University and has been a high school photography teacher in NJ since 2010. She teaches immersive workshops on alternative and historic photography processes and is the leader of the NJ Pinhole Club. Her award winning work has been exhibited locally and internationally.
